I replayed it about a year ago when I was running XP 64 bit and had to do this. On 32 bit machines opengl32.dll is in "Windows\system32" and 64 bit it's in "Windows\SysWOW64" directory.Ĭopying the system opengl32.dll into the Quake 2 engine based game's folder has always fixed any problems for me with modern hardware / O.S.s.
paradigm has changed dramatically - especially with 64 bit - so its best to copy the system opengl32.dll into the game directory to make sure it uses the proper *dll.
Since it's a quake 2 engine game, it could use system based opengl or look for opengl32.dll in the game directory - with the game directory taking precedence. (I can't imagine ATI doing any better since their OpenGL support is generally even worse.) I don't know how much is Windows 7's fault and how much is NVIDIA's fault. The OpenGL renderer causes the game to crash. Then, download this file and copy (replace) the target folder where you installed the game.NamelessFragger: I happened to find Heretic II at a thrift store, but there's an issue I wasn't expecting that I'd hope GOG could fix. To install the game, go to setup and run setup.exe (from the main directory you will not be able to install the game). Heretic II, also changes in the audiovisual frame, which we like very much.
